I just wanted to pass on what the National Recall Alert Center has meant to me.

While using NRAC, I am confident that ALL product recalls are being addressed in a timely manner.  The recall alerts are prompt, clear, and concise.  They help give me a peace of mind to know that our critically ill patients are protected from recalled medications, devices, and many other items.  Throughout many state department of health and accrediting body surveys, I am always happy to volunteer that our facility utilizes NRAC.  I even had a surveyor comment on how well-organized our recall responses were and that is all because of NRAC.  It was obvious that the surveyor was impressed with NRAC and its functionality.  By using NRAC, I am confident that our facility is using the best available option to keep our patients safe.  I will continue to recommend NRAC to all my colleagues because of the regulatory compliance that is guaranteed by such an easy to navigate platform.

Logan F.

Director of Pharmacy

Hospital (Illinois)

We are very appreciative of the work your company does to keep us informed of all the different Recall notices. Utilizing NRAC has helped streamline what could be a very tedious process with the number of different medical devices, medications, and other supplies utilized in a healthcare facility. Using the system online allows us to receive and take action against notices sooner than we could waiting on mail/notification from the different companies keeping our patients safe.

Tiffani R.

Hospital (West Virginia)

I wanted to reach out to you and thank you for returning my call today.  I have received really good feedback from my department heads in regards to NRAC system and it user friendly access.  We appreciate your great customer service, along with your Monthly Safety Reports that help us to remain on track.

Robert V.

Materials Manager

What a pleasure it was speaking with you yesterday concerning Recall Alert.  Hearing the passion you have for your cause is very evident.  As a Materials Manager of a small rural hospital in Georgia, your organization makes it so much easier for our facility to provide a safe environment for our patients and staff. I cannot tell you how difficult it would be to obtain the recalls from all the many different companies.

Jamie W.

Materials Manager

Hospital (Georgia)

Thanks again for the intense and thoughtful long-over-due training session. We are on the cusp of an accreditation survey. One of the performance standards encompasses recalls. Your software tool is a powerful ally in managing their surveillance and discovery process.

Thank you for taking my call today and I want to express my gratitude, the RECALL ALERT CENTER is invaluable to my organization, we are a healthcare rehab center and would not even know of the recalls if not for your organization. From the pharmacy, food service and all medical items brought into the facility. Having the alert I instruct my staff to act quickly to ensure it does not affect us. We are health care and I can’t imagine not knowing of these recalls and tempting harm to our patients.

I am proud to be a member.

Daniel B.

Facilities Management Director

Hospital (Alabama)

Just wanted to say thank you for all you have done for patient safety and facility compliance.

The alert software has been a great resource for early detection in identifying product recalls that could cause serious harm to patients.  Patient safety is always the top priority and when it comes to safety every second counts. This software is very simple to use and the daily alerts with only products in our area has definitely made the process for product recalls much simpler for us as a facility to stay on top of.

Great product and exceptional service!

Steven T. CHFM

Director of Plant Operations

Hospital (Arizona)

We have used the NRAC as our recall service since 1992.  We have always relied upon you for recall  information which is delivered in a timely, thorough and easy to use format. Our  accrediting agency is always quite impressed with the scope of the recall services that you provide too.

Thank you for making the process of recall review easy for us for the last 30 years and congratulations on your upcoming anniversary.

Linda R.

Facilities Manager

I wanted to express my gratitude in writing as to how helpful the National Recall Alert Center has been in notifying our surgery center of important medical device, patient supplies/equipment and medication recalls. Often times the manufacturing company itself does not communicate their recalls which is why we have  relied on The National Recall Alert Center for the past several years as a vital resource in alerting our center to keep our patients safe.

Sybil S. MSN, RN-BSN

Nurse Adminstrator/Clinical Director

Rehabilitation Center (Connecticut)

I am appreciative of your sending out our standing nationwide with National Recall Alert Center.  I have been with our facility for over 20 years and have found your company informative and timely with emails and calls.  Your notification system and documentation has made it easy to manage the notifications and allows us to log in and at a glance check on the recalls for which ever area of our facility that needs the information to be checked on.  It is an efficient system and minimizes the need for actual paperwork.  It has been a pleasure to work with your company.

I wanted you to know that I think your site is excellent and gives all the information needed to ensure patient safety.  I appreciate all you do to keep the site working so smoothly.

Without the service you provide, we could not be as proactive as we are. You and your organization make it possible for us to maintain a high level of vigilance and awareness to protect our staff and those we serve.

Steve W.

Central Receiving Supervisor

As an Independent Service Provider we service multiple accounts. I can easily search the MFG and Model files of all our accounts, save your alert as a PDF and send it to the relevant parties for distribution and follow up.

We treat recalls and alerts very serious and your service has made our job easy.

Ernie R.

Supervisor of Biomedical Services

Health Care Company (Connecticut)

First let me say thank you very much for your remarkable early product recall and alerts system. We use this system religiously and count on it for letting us know well in advance of equipment and product recall and alert issues and dangers that can affect our patients.

It is not only the patients that benefit from the early detection and communication of product hazards, but our Employees also benefit.

Nurses are very caring. As Risk Manager I am aware of a few instances where Nurses left their profession when involved with a needless harming or killing of a patient. They don’t want to be involved ever again in a situation like that.

The folks that we have assembled to handle notifications from the NRAC are all passionate about patient safety.

I emailed you a recent email thread I had with our Materials Manager about a recall where we received a letter from a manufacturer notifying us that a product we use contained black mold.

As I discussed this with him, I found out we pulled all our supply seven weeks in advance of that letter because we already knew about this through the NRAC. This condition could have been extremely harmful to our OB patients, but your early alert helped us avoid any patient harm.

I have been so impressed with this system over this past year that I asked you for a list of Nebraska hospitals that are currently using your system.

I received that list today and out of the ten hospitals listed, two hospitals jumped out at me right away because both hospitals are DNV accredited.

In my mind DNV is the best of the several CMS deemed authority accreditors.

I expect these two hospitals to be using the best systems and of course they chose the NRAC; I am not surprised.

In my mind this speaks very highly of the NRAC recall and alert system.

I plan to share my positive experiences of using the NRAC with as many Nebraska hospitals as I can, however I never would have guessed that there were so few using the NRAC. I can only imagine it is because they have not heard of the NRAC.

I believe that if more Nebraska hospitals used the NRAC system more Nebraska patients would be safer from medical device and product deficiencies. There are about 60 hospitals in Nebraska that are 25 beds or less and are very income sensitive – and with your help they may be able to get device and product recall and alert coverage for free.

Bill R.

Risk Manager

National Recall Alert Center's commitment to alerting healthcare systems of defective products, field notices and recalls is top notch.  Their online option is very user friendly, efficient and easy to navigate.   When there is a first class recall on a product or equipment not only do I receive a notification, but a phone call as well.  I appreciate their commitment to keeping me up to date on current product recalls so I can ensure the safety of my patients.

The National Recall Alert Center in an invaluable resource for our organization here at Memorial Regional Health. From its convenient interface to the easy way to coordinate between multiple department the NRAC system is a joy to use. Fully compliant with our accrediting agency the NRAC system makes pulling reports a breeze. The time saved across our entire organization is the number one reason we will be continuing with NRAC for the foreseeable future.

Clint J.

Memorial Regional Health Center (Colorado)

I am charged with receipt of all recall notifications from The National Recall Alert Center.  Our clinic prides itself for setting the bar high in our efforts to provide the highest standard of care to our patients.  That requires due diligence to properly vet each item that we are alerted to that has not met the required standards, or is deemed unfit.  We’re fortunate that we aren’t an acute care hospital facility and many of the surgical items that are recalled are not used at our clinic.  But each recalled item is thoroughly reviewed and removed from our facility when applicable.

Thank you so much for recognizing our efforts to provide nothing less than excellence in the way of care to our patients and staff at every level possible.

Jayne

Administrative Coordinator, Facilities

Clinic (Kansas)

I love the notifications for the recall. It is nice that I don't have to run down each department to let them know about a recall.

It also makes the departments reasonable for there recalls.

I have to report on this once a month and with the reports that will make it easier to see were our brake down is.

I also get a phone call with a recording if there is a major recall that I need to look at. That is great because we get busy and in our routines and just by pass the recalls or put it on the back burner. This way I can look and take care of it that day.

Thank you again!

Tina R.

HI,

Our medical center has been a network member of the National Recall Warning Alert Center (NRAC) for more than 30 years.  Approximately 7 years ago, we transitioned to their interactive website to monitor and act on recalled products.  Benefits of using the on-line system include:

User Friendly – notices are received directly in the applicable department’s e-mail box, including at least two or three reminders.

Timely – many times we get notices from NRAC before the manufacturer.

Pertinent and Efficient – each department only gets notices for products affecting their department, thereby saving them time from having to review several pages of items not applicable to them.

Reporting – Easily accessible reports allow us to monitor our response and follow-up on items that need attention.

Ultimately, having current information on potential product risks ensures that we maintain a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors.

 Sincerely,

 Ginny C.

I’ve used other recall software and without question the National Recall Alert Center’s is the best.  It’s extremely timely and I’ve yet to get a recall that hasn’t been included in your system.  It provides me with all the information I need; contains useful reporting tools, and is very simple to use.  I especially like the ability to forward recalls to the appropriate individuals. Please feel free to use me as a contact reference and thanks for your great support!

I wanted to let you know we are very pleased with your services and program. We have used this option for several years now as opposed to only relying on our vendors to alert us. We really like the recall alert system and have benefited from it greatly. We also like that we receive the recalls so quickly and are prepared for when the product manufacturer sends out their recall, about 2-3 weeks after recall alert posts it. It helps us check on product issues and keep our patients safe!

NRAC has given us a new sense of awareness and urgency.  Electronic notifications give us the ability to immediately remove recalled product from patient care areas while other hospitals wait several days to receive notifications via mail.  When it comes to patient care, sooner is safer.

Using your recall system has sped up the recall process 10 fold at least, plus it allows me to generate reports that I share at our compliance committee meetings as well at quarterly board meet-ings I share 3 month recall reports by department.

Craig A.

Dir. Materials Management

Hospital (Alaska)

I wanted to take this opportunity to let you know that I really appreciate the NRAC. This service allows our facility to be informed of a recall as early as possible. It could be a month(s) if we had to rely on the information that we receive from the manufacturers. By the time it goes through the wholesale companies and the local distributors, the process just takes too long. It makes it simple to open this site up every day and check the items against our stock. All of the reporting information and instructions are there so it makes the process simple to follow. Thank you for helping keep our facility compliant and safe for the patients and staff. I truly appreciate the effort you put in to make my job easier.

Sharon R. R.T.(R)

Safety Officer

Surgical Center (Kentucky)

When we originally started with your organization we had no way of tracking recalls and by using your system our performance has been heightened in the area of patient safety. This system has been used by all department heads and it has never been more useful than it is today. Thank you.

Barry N.

Manager of EVS and Preparedness Coordinator

Hospital (Ohio)

Recall Alert is a wonderful way to keep up to date on the National recalls. As a small hospital we de-pend on the reliability of recall alert to notify us of any equipment or supplies we have that may be recalled. The system is easy to use and sends multiple reminders in order for us to stay on top of our equipment management. We highly recommend the service to other facilities.

Alisha O. RN

Director of Nursing

Hospital (Nebraska)

We greatly appreciate what Recall Alert does for us.  It makes it so much easier for us to be able to receive electronic notifications several times a day of product that may or may not affect patient safety than to sit around and wait for snail mail from a manufacturer that may or may not come. Thank you for helping us keep our patients safe.

Whittney P. MSHS, CSSGB

Materials Management Manager

Hospital (Montana)

The thing that really sticks out to me is the ease of use. You make it very easy for us to keep up with recalls and to respond. The site is easy to navigate and any time I need to call or email with questions, the employees are always very helpful.

We have been NRAC members since 1995. During this time our hospital administration and department directors have played an active role in participating in the recall alert process. Our mission and vision is to provide safe” quality health care for all our residents, and to be recognized as a preferred provider. As we partner together to ensure that all positive recalls are removed from service in a timely manner helps us in carrying out our goal to provide that safe healthcare to our patients.

I would like to thank you for the dependable role that the NRAC staff plays in helping us provide safe healthcare to our patients.

 Best regards,

Johnny T.

Director of Quality Management |Regulatory Compliance| Credentialing

Regional Medical Center (Alabama)

I have utilized NRAC for several years, in a couple of different facilities, even before the E Class; I worked in facilities that would get the recall notices and manually go through the packets and copy the portions that would be sent to each department.  At the time, we thought that was a great tool; though it was a time consuming manual process and used a lot of paper.

Recall Alert E Class is the best tool for HealthCare Recalls.  The amount of time saved in the Materials Management Department is priceless.  The recall information is sent directly to the Department who uses the products; which in turn, spurs the Departments to pull items and bring them to Materials Management for processing.  As the Materials Management Director, I see all of the recalls and can keep track of them to make sure each department is working through the listing consistently.  I can tell by going into the website which departments are compliant and timely in viewing and acting on recalls and send a reminder if needed.  Each month I pull reports to share with the Management Team and Safety Committee, regarding how many recalls were reported and how many actually affected our facility.  The information provided by the recalls that flow through E Class, also, play a part in what items and equipment we purchase.  If there are several recalls for supplies or equipment, this raises questions when dealing with vendors on their products and equipment.  I would definitely recommend this tool to any facility the information available at your fingertips is invaluable.

Karen M.

Director Materials Management & Food Services

Thank you for your call informing us that we are among the top ten percent in regards to response times among the hospitals utilizing the NRAC recall notification system, a system which we find very easy to use. Thanks!

I look forward to working with your organization and enhancing patient safety.

Our medical center and our community have greatly benefitted from our partnership with National Recall Alert Center. Often, we are notified of recall alerts before our reps or vendors are informed!  The information that the notifications contain allows us to quickly and efficiently determine if we are impacted. By being able to assign different individuals or departments recall responsibilities/accountability, no one person or department has to bare all the burden. In doing so, it has allowed for a full “team” commitment and accomplishment.

National Recall Alert Center has aided us in being able to provide our community and patients that care they deserve!

The National Recall Alert Center landing page is extremely user friendly. The generated emails take us directly to the recalls that we need to address and literally in just a few minutes we can address our recalls and go about our day. I really appreciate the ease of use; I feel certain that this is one of the main reason that my facility has been so compliant and responsive to the alerts. Thank you for providing a truly user friendly landing page so that we can address issues of safety and then move about the remainder of our day.

I am writing this letter today just to let you know how great your service is and how much easier you make my life as a Safety Officer in a healthcare facility. Your recall alert system is up-to-date, in real time, smooth and user-friendly. I almost feel like I am cheating. All the information I need to keep my staff and our patients safe is literally one click away. The accuracy of each recall including lot numbers and date ranges insures that we know exactly where we stand and prevents loss of man hours in order to narrow down specific items. In short, it’s amazing. Safety is important everywhere, but doubly so in the healthcare industry. Your system and your support team have enabled us to be confident and proficient; offering the best products and environment to people during some of their most troubling times. That is invaluable.

Thank you.

I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratification with your company and your services.  The dashboard is comprehensive but very easy to use. It gives us peace of mind and confidence that all recalls are captured and reported to us.  Thank you for your guidance, training, continued follow-up and support. I know I can count on you for service, support, and patience. I am thankful your company was referred to us.

Sherri F. BSN RN CNOR,

Director of Nurses

Surgery Center (Texas)

Having National Recall Alert Center's E.-C.L.A.S.S. Alerting, Management, Tracking & Tracing System has actually allowed me to sleep at night. Before NRAC, I was always worried that we would have hospital products under recall of which we might not have been informed. That is no longer the case. What a relief since we all know how non-responsive manufacturers are and how late the FDA is in getting out any information.

I love the fact that your service encompasses every single department within our facility.

Also, I was very impressed at how long it took my staff and me to fully learn the E.-C.L.A.S.S. system—only 8 minutes!! Yes, yours is the most user-friendly and the most intuitive system I've seen.

Now that I have NRAC and its Triple Alerting Feature, I NO LONGER have to be concerned with not being informed of Class 1 recalls which could lead to patient death. Simply stated, no other organization I've seen comes close to all the features and benefits I am now enjoying with NRAC.

By the way, your customer service is second to none! Having my own personal liaison at your home office is outstanding and I, for one, appreciate it very much (and so does my entire staff and stakeholders).

Again thank you so much for helping to reduce the recall risk to our patients and staff—it was a great decision for us and we haven't regretted it one bit!

Mel L.

Director of Quality Management

Hospital (Texas)

I truly want to praise the NRAC recall system. Following several years of working closely with one of NRAC’s competitors we decided to look into other electronic recall alert systems. The system we were using was “good” and we thought it was state-of-the-art. Within minutes of speaking with you over the phone and having you walk me through the NRAC system I could easily see that NRAC exceeded the competitors in almost every possible way.

Competitor:

Weekly notices sent out every Friday (recalls from all over the country, many of which were not even sent to our region)

Running reports was extremely time-consuming and printing was even more difficult.

The competitor’s system was very costly.

Customer service was very good.

NRAC:

Recall notices are sent out as they become active (more timely) and are only related to recalls that impact our specific region, which means less nuisance recalls that have no possible impact.

The Class 1 recall alert system is amazing as it provides me with almost immediate

notification (via text message and telephone notices). The ability to respond within minutes to a high risk recall is so important to keeping our patients safe.

Running reports and printing them is simple, immediate and extremely useful to ensure

that all responsible individuals in the organization are closing the loop on recall notifications assigned to them.

NRAC is much less expensive.

The customer service exceeds my expectations every time.

I have enjoyed working with the team at NRAC and the recall system has made my job so much easier. I especially like how simple the report section is to use.

Happy holidays in the coming months,

Kevin M.

The online NRAC system has been a big help in managing recalls. It is more timely and it has the reporting data to prove that our facility has managed the recalls. Implementation was very easy and all our end users prefer it to a time consuming, clumsy paper process.

My facility was looking for a recall alerting service so we checked all the services available. After our investigation, my committee and I had no trouble deciding that National Recall Alert Center was the only service that matched our needs.

We wanted a closed-loop, fully compliant service.

We wanted a service that was cloud-based so that no IT integration was necessary.

We wanted a service that had no learning curve.

We wanted a service that was extremely easy and fast to use by all stakeholders.

We wanted a service that had the most experience in the field—CHECK.

We wanted a service that provided real-time service—24/7/365 as well as on weekends and holidays.

We wanted a service that provided for live assistance anytime we needed it via phone email and fax.

We wanted a service that had a system that virtually made certain we would never miss a class I recall.

We wanted a service that escalated several times as well as provided for backups.

We wanted a service that integrated the information we receive from the manufacture into a scannable document to be kept in the same listing file.

We wanted a service that provided for security of notes that are being kept with the alerts.

Everything we wanted and felt we needed, we get with National Recall Alert Center.

Simply stated, we couldn't be happier! With National Recall Alert Center we not only receive recall alerts but we also receive full recall management, tracking and tracing.

I believe the thing that got Rhonda was the fact that you have the matching grant bringing the actual cost to about half!  Plus, in speaking with some of our employee’s in Clinical Engineering, the NRAC recalls come to us L-O-N-G before the vendors are even aware there is a recall on their products/equipment!  Kudos to you for your source on these recalls!

Thank you again.  You and your team have been absolutely great to work with.

I just wanted to let you know how much I am enjoying your system.  While we are still becoming accustomed to using it, it is one of the most user-friendly systems I have ever encountered.  The staff has been very helpful from the beginning in getting us up and running.  Everyone at the help desk have been knowledgeable and helpful each time I have called.  Thank you so much.

Thanks for all your help and good work.

Director of Plant Operations/Safety

Hospital (Florida)

I would like to share a positive experience with our NRAC system. The FDA sent a representative to inquire about a recall and our Materials Management Technician met with them. The Materials Management Director as well as the Risk Management Director were both off-site at a leadership retreat and the technician was unable to reach them for assistance. The Technician knew how to search for a specific recall because he had been educated previously. He said he was nervous but he pulled up the product recall very quickly and easily, and the FDA Representative was pleased with the information provided. The situation could have been very different if the Technician had to go into his director’s office and look for paper files, but because of the ease of use with the NRAC system, the visit was a positive one.

Cindy L.

Director of Risk Management/Patient Safety Officer

Medical Center (Texas)

We have been using NRAC for a few months already and from the beginning, with the training offered by Mike Kester to the follow up to make sure we do not have any issues navigating the recall alerts pages and performing our job to be in compliance, all the process has been made very simple to follow and easy to work for us.

Certainly it is always a concern when handling recalled products to make sure they are not left on the shelves of hospitals even after the recall has been released, publicized and checked by the facility employees, but I should mention that the NRAC makes this task far less stressful and easier to perform.

Thank you for your help and support in such an important job as to handle recall alerts to be in compliance with the FDA and their accreditation organization.

National Recall Alerts give up a protective barrier keeping unacceptable medical products from leaving out warehouse. It can be said that National Recall Alerts are at the center of our safety monitoring program.

J.A.

Director of Safety

I find the N.R.A.C. extremely helpful as it is usually the first information I receive regarding usage warnings or recalls. Because of this early notification I am always prepared to provide a rapid conclusion to any and all alerts.

L.Z.

Director of Materials Management

As a director responsible for the purchase and management of the supplies in my facility, I find it increasingly more difficult to control the problems that may exist with all the different categories we have to deal with on a daily basis. Having NRAC as my primary source for all recall and product alerts, I feel much more at ease knowing that our patients and staff are being protected by the information you provide. Thank you and continue the good work.

I do not know of another publication that is as comprehensive and up-to-date.

F.B.

I have found the warning alert from NRAC to be out best source for recall warnings.

V.H.

Centralized Purchasing

In this day and ages of more complicated regulations and increasing information overload, it is comforting to know that there is a central source of recall information. I feel confident that N.R.A.C. provides one with all the information I need to assure that I am able to keep my hospital informed of FDA and manufacturer recalls.

J.I.

Director of Materials Management

Since 1977, our hospital has been members of the N.R.A.C. During this time we have come to rely on your notifications as our main source of information, as they relate to recalls, field corrections and alerts relative to supplies, drugs and equipment. We have always found these notifications helpful and complete, and they have, on a number of occasions, been out first indication that there was something wrong or potentially wrong with a product we were using.
